Click here to read An Open Letter To T.D. Jakes
March, 22, 2010
I emailed my open letter to Bishop Jakes through his website and sent a hard copy by mail with no response. However, I did hear from many ministries, pastors and Godly American citizens that expressed their opinions and support. For that I am thankful.
It's my opinion that there is a high possibility that Rev. Jakes never read my letter. Over the months since I wrote it, it dawned on me that I no longer receive mail of any kind from his ministry. I have never written anything of any kind to a ministry that I didn't begin to receive at least form letters from them. It is un-heard of to write a ministry and have mail to discontinue.
I've concluded that whoever physically received my letter in his office or opened up the email it was sent in, never allowed it to be forwarded on to him, then removed me from the mailing list. I could be wrong, but I do want to give Rev. Jakes the benefit of the doubt as it is possible he never received my letter.
As I write this, the Health Care I referred to in my letter to Rev. Jakes has passed. In an interview with Larry King he was asked about that Health Care bill and said he felt its importance was to the degree that he would hate to see the abortion issue stop it.
Quote:
"I'm against abortion, personally. I'm against abortion. And I think that one of the things that's important to me -- for me, life begins at conception. My understanding of it makes me believe that life begins at conception.
The great thing about this country is that we have so many diverse people. And I respect other people's views who see it differently from what I do. I'm not narrow minded.
But that -- that's my opinion about it. But I would hate to see that stop us from getting health care to people who really need it."
This statement concerning health care and the one he made on election night where he said his son will now live in a greater country than he was born into because we have elected a black man as president leads me to conclude that he would hate to see Barak Obama's policies keep a black man from being president.
I can only guess but in my mind I am trying to reconcile the minister with his ideas and statements. I continue to believe he is an anointed man of God and respect his ministry.
I would like to encourage you to pray for our nation and our president. Pray for every Congressman and Senator. The time is now to stand in the gap and make up the hedge. This nation was founded on Godly principles by men of God and that cannot be erased by changing the context of our history books.
