Her mother often referred to her as “a master of words”. But she will tell you that she began to find refuge in a pen and pad as an awkward teen. “I was a misfit”, she explains, “I didn’t even understand my own self”. On some level she recognized the call of God on her life, but felt aimless in her pursuit of fulfilling that call.
At that time her father printed a monthly publication in support of missions. Once in a while she would author an article that would document her spiritual growth through those uncertain years. No one could have predicted what would lie ahead as she found comfort in the ability to share her life with the stroke of a pen.
Lona began to express herself in poetry long before the stories. Some sad, some funny, some down-right silly. Over time she has been asked to write for every event known to man. Weddings, Birthdays, Homecomings and Homegoings. So many of them contain personal facts and information that are only known to those who are close to the situation or the subject of it. But this page contains a few of them that you will hopefully read and understand, and enjoy.
It is her prayer that you are blessed and inspired as you browse and read pages of this section in her site that is called “The Writer”.
